PRI Webinar: ESG Analysis for Energy and Utilities Credit Analysts
Date: 15 March
Time: 9:00-10:00 GMT / UTC+8 hours
Join PRI, PIMCO, and Société Générale CIB on 15 March for a comprehensive exploration of how corporate bond investors can use ESG analysis to identify and manage risk in energy and utility sectors.
The energy and utilities sectors face a unique mix of challenges: they must continue to support growing demand for energy, mobility, and electricity, while keeping costs down for consumers and minimizing environmental and social impacts and externalities.
This is a problem with global consequences, greatly impacting climate change, water scarcity, and human health. Rating agencies have begun flagging sectors likely to be negatively affected by environmental risks, with energy and utilities topping the list. Meanwhile the issue of stranded energy assets is becoming more prominent among investors, particularly since the EU’s largest five power generators collectively lost 37% of their value from 2008 to 2013. Currently there is around US$3 trillion of debt outstanding from the oil and gas industries.
