Signatories, regional stakeholders and partners are invited to join the consultation on our Blueprint for Responsible Investment in Cape Town. Fiona Reynolds, Managing Director of the PRI, will lead the workshop and present findings from the consultation, which will influence the PRI’s strategic direction and priorities over the next decade. The agenda will also include a dedicated session on the future of energy in South Africa.

09:10	Shaping the future of responsible investment – a blueprint for the next decade The PRI will launch its consultation on its Blueprint for the next decade and ask participants to contribute to four discussion topics; How should the PRI hold signatories to account against the Principles? What the PRI’s role is in addressing systemic risks and contributing to a sustainable financial system? How should PRI respond to the UN sustainable development goals (SDG’s) and what are the key ESG issues that will impact the industry in the next 10 years? 11:00	Transitioning to a low carbon economy: Discussion on South Africa’s energy future This session will discuss possible actions investors can take regarding global good practice towards transitioning investment portfolios to a low carbon economy. The session will include both an expert presentation and a panel discussion of leading PRI signatories and industry experts with regards investor actions addressing the following: What are major economies such as China and France doing to mitigate climate risk? How are investors outside South Africa taking action on climate change? How are investors within South Africa taking action on climate change? What do pension funds in South Africa need to do to prepare for the transition to a low carbon economy? How could the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures assist investors? How do investors currently use company financial disclosures on climate risk and opportunity, and what types of information would be most useful to investors? What information on climate risk and opportunity needs to be disclosed by investors?
